Maristella Svampa is a sociologist, writer, and researcher. She has a degree in Philosophy from the National University of Córdoba and a PhD in Sociology from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris. She is principal investigator of Conicet and full professor at the National University of La Plata. In 2006, he received the Guggenheim Scholarship and the Kónex Award for Merit in Sociology (Argentina); in 2014, the Kónex merit in Political and Sociological Essay; and the 2016 Kónex Platinum Prize in Sociology. In 2019 he received the National Prize in Sociological Essay for his book “Debates Latinoamericanos. Indianismo, Desarrollo, Dependencia y Populismo” (2016). She has participated as a national and international lecturer and is the author of twenty books. His latest books are “Chacra 51. return to Patagonia in the times of fracking” and “The frontiers of neo-extractivism in Latin America” (2018).
