Ashish Kothari Rights of Nature Tribunal judge

Ashish Kothari (India) is a founding member of the non-governmental environmental organization Kalpavriksh. He has coordinated the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan of India, and has served on the international and Indian boards of Greenpeace, he has chaired a global network on protected areas and communities organized by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. He has taught at the Indian Institute of Public Administration and is the author and/or editor (individually or with others) of more than 30 books, including (with Aseem Shrivastava) “Churning the Earth: The Making of Global India”. He has a master’s degree in sociology from the Delhi School of Economics in 1985.
