Danii Kehler is a Plains Cree woman from the Kawacatoose First Nation on Treaty 4 territory in Canada and is an Indigenous Artist who shares stories through her art, showcasing the true beauty and meaning of Indigenous culture and people. Danii recently received her Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management at the University of Saskatchewan and is working towards obtaining a Masters in Energy Security at the School of Environment and Sustainability. She was the “first” First Nations person from Canada to join the 2041 ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition, becoming an Ambassador for the Antarctic, and is a founding member of Antarctic Rights, which is working to build worldwide support for the implementation of an Antarctic Declaration to help ensure that Antarctica is protected and remains a symbol of global cooperation and ecological responsibility. Danii is also the Indigenous representative for Saskatoon’s Environmental Advisory Committee and is currently a Consultant for the Office of the Treaty Commissioner Saskatchewan researching how Indigenous land stewardship practices and knowledge systems contribute to climate resilience and exploring how climate change affects Treaty rights.
