Constituyente de Chile reconoce los Derechos de la Naturaleza · Chile recognizes Rights of Nature in Constitutional Assembly
Chile ha dado un gigante paso reconociendo los Derechos de la Naturaleza en la Convención Constitucional, aprobando el siguiente artículo de principios (Art. 9):
“Las personas y los pueblos son interdependientes con la naturaleza y forman, con ella, un conjunto inseparable. La Naturaleza tiene derechos. El Estado y la sociedad tienen el deber de protegerlos y respetarlos”.
El segundo párrafo del Artículo 9: “La naturaleza tiene derechos. El Estado y la sociedad tienen el deber de protegerlos y respetarlos” fue aprobado y pasa a borrador de la nueva Constitución en Chile.

De aprobarse plebiscitariamente, esta Constitución sería la segunda en el mundo (luego de Ecuador) en reconocer a la Naturaleza como sujeto de Derechos.
El Tribunal Internacional de los Derechos de la Naturaleza y la Alianza Global por los Derechos de la Naturaleza – GARN – felicitan a Chile por este paso histórico y firme en favor de los Derechos de la Naturaleza.
Chile has taken a giant step by recognizing the Rights of Nature in the Constitutional Convention, passing the following article of principles (Art 9):
“Individuals and peoples are interdependent with nature and together, they are an inseparable whole. Nature has rights. The State and society have the duty to protect and respect them”.
The second paragraph of Article 9: “Nature has rights. The State and society have the duty to protect and respect them” was passed and becomes a draft of the new Constitution in Chile.

If approved by plebiscite, this Constitution would be the second in the world (after Ecuador) to recognize Nature as a subject of Rights.
The International Rights of Nature Tribunal and the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature – GARN – congratulate Chile for this historic and firm step in favor of the Rights of Nature.
