Ecuador está enfrentando un momento icónico en la lucha por proteger la Amazonía. Por primera vez en la historia, cada ciudadano y ciudadana del país tendrá la oportunidad de votar SÍ o NO para decidir sobre la explotación petrolera en el bloque ITT en el Parque Nacional Yasuní. Con la victoria del Sí, el país tendría que dejar permanentemente su petróleo en el subsuelo en uno de los lugares con mayor biodiversidad en el mundo. Este será un mensaje crucial para el mundo sobre la urgente necesidad de dejar los combustibles fósiles bajo tierra y tomar decisiones reales para detener la devastadora Crisis Climática.

El Tribunal Internacional de los Derechos de la Naturaleza ha escuchado el caso Yasuní en 7 ocasiones: en 2 Tribunales locales y 5 Tribunales Internacionales de los Derechos de la Naturaleza.

Hoy, el Tribunal Internacional de los Derechos de la Naturaleza está listo para cerrar el caso con la resolución más esperanzadora, un referéndum liderado por ciudadanos para dejar permanentemente el crudo en el subsuelo y desmantelar la infraestructura petrolera que nunca debió haberse instalado en una parte del Parque Nacional Yasuní, específicamente en el Bloque 43 o ITT. En solidaridad con el pueblo de Ecuador, el Tribunal Internacional de los Derechos de la Naturaleza llama a todos los ciudadanos ecuatorianos a decir SÍ a Yasuní, SÍ a la Naturaleza, SÍ a los Pueblos Indígenas, SÍ a las Generaciones Futuras.

Ecuador is facing a historic moment in the fight to protect the Amazon and its guardians. For the first time in history, every citizen of this unique oil producing country will get to vote YES or NO about the oil exploitation in the ITT block in the Yasuní National Park. With the victory of the Yes option, the country will have to permanently leave the oil in the soil in one of the most biodiverse places in the world. This will be a crucial message to the World towards the urgent need to leave fossil fuels in the ground and take real and bold decisions to stop the ravaging Climate Crisis.

The International Rights of Nature Tribunal has heard the Yasuní case 7 times: in 2 local and 5 International Rights of Nature Tribunals.

Today, the International Rights of Nature Tribunal is ready to close the case with the most hopeful resolution, a citizen led referendum to permanently leave the crude in the soil and dismantling the oil infrastructure that should never have been installed in a part of the Yasuní National Park, namely in Block 43 or ITT. In solidarity with the people of Ecuador, the International Rights of Nature Tribunal calls all Ecuadorian citizens to say YES to Yasuní, yes to Nature, yes to Indigenous People, yes to Future Generations.
